Benue commissioner tours health agencies, expresses govt readiness to improve healthcare services

Benue State commissioner for health and human services,  Dr Paul Ejeh-Ogwuche on Wednesday embarked on familiarization tour of  agencies under the ministry and vowed to instill discipline, strengthening coordination and improve healthcare delivery in the State.

 

He explained that the tour would afford him the opportunity to have a firsthand informations about the agencies, and identify critical gaps needing government intervention.

 

Dr. Ejeh-Ogwuche further said that the tour would also assist the ministry to strengthen collaboration with the agencies and align them with the priorities of the health sector.

 

He undertook a visit to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, Benue State Health Insurance Agency, School of Nursing Makurdi, and Benue State AIDS Control Agency (BENSACA),where he emphasized on the need for staff and management of the agencies to remain firm, transparent and uphold the tenet of discipline in their services.

 

At the  BSUTH, the commissioner commended  the CMD for the improvements recorded at the hospital do far, insisting that the development was a clear reflection of the State Governor, Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia’s commitment to strengthening healthcare in the state.

 

 ",The success was a demonstration of what focused leadership and proper coordination can do. Am happy for what  is happenings at the hospital and the level of progress so far. I must commend the management of BSUTH for this  remarkable transformation recorded in the last two years.

 

"The ongoing visits were part of a broader move to consolidate improvements and fully align the health sector with Governor Alia’s transformation agenda, which prioritizes efficiency, accountability, and quality healthcare for all Benue residents", Ogwuche alluded.

 

 

While receiving the commissioner, Chief Medical Director (CMD) Benue State University Teaching Hospital Makurdi, Dr. Stephen Hwande, said the hospital under his watch has recorded remarkable achievements, saying that despite the successes, they still faced with numerous operational challenges.

 

The CMD however conducted the commissioner round major facilities, including the Pharmacosurgical Complex, Water Treatment Plant, the VIP Clinic, and the Cancer Centre under construction, among other critical sections of the hospital.

 

The Commissioner was accompanied on the visits by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Beatrice Tsavmbu; the Director, Medical Services; the Director, Public Health; the Director, Nursing Services, and the Head of the Public Relations Unit, along with other senior officials of the ministry
