Benue South 2027: Olofu hosts major political parties stakeholders, declares for senate.

Former commissioner for finance and economic planning in Benue State, Dr. David Olofu, has formally declared his intention to contest for Benue South Senatorial District seat in 2027 election.

He fully made his intention known when hosted  key stakeholders across party lines from Apa Local Government Area at his  residence in Ugbokpo, Wednesday.

The meeting also brought together stakeholders from all major political parties,  including APC, NNPP, PDP, SDP, and ADC as well as past and present elected and appointed officials in the area.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Olofu emphasized that the aspiration is bigger than himself as an individual, stressing that the mandate if giving to him, would be anchored on equity and justice.

He explained that by natural  justice,  Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency should  be allow to produce the next senator as the axis has never had the opportunity to produce a Senator since the inception of democratic governance. 

"This ambition, therefore, represents a shared moment for inclusion and fairness within Benue South", Olofu said.

He highlighted key points of  his plans for Benue South Senatorial District which includes elements of a people-centred governance approach that prioritises inclusive decision-making, local needs assessment, and structured engagement with traditional rulers, technocrats, and elected representatives, ensuring that development is driven by the real needs of senatorial communities.

The senatorial aspirant further used the opportunity to present the final copy of the Apa Development and Security Plan to the Chairman of Apa Local Government, Hon. Adams Ogwola Ochega 

The presentation was witnessed by  council members  including Hon. Aduma Aduma, Hon. Abu Amali and the former Commissioner for Energy, Benue State, Omale Omale.

According to him, the document reflect wide consultations and the collective expectations of his people, signalling a new direction in governance for Apa Local Government Area.

"This is not a party project. It is an Apa project, a Benue South project, and a collective journey anchored on justice, inclusion, and purposeful leadership.

"Through our collective effort, we will build a thriving, peaceful, and prosperous Benue South Senatorial District", Dr. Olofu stated.
