The chairman of the main opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Apa local government area of Benue State, Abel Aboje, has reportedly slumped and died on his way to hospital in Ugbokpo, Apa local government area of the State.
Our correspondent gathered that the late chairman on Thursday night at about 10pm, complained of stomach pains, and while on his way to hospital to see his doctor, slumped and died before getting to the hospital.
Aboje's close political associate who spoke with our correspondent on phone in Makurdi on condition of anonymity, said he was a committed party man.
"Iam very closed to Aboje while he was alive. He never told me he was sick. He called me yesterday evening at about 7am where discuss vital issue concerning a political meeting that is coming up soon.
