2027: Alia holds pre-decamping dinner for Suswam, Sen. Zam, ex-DG NAFDAC Orhii, others in Benue

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia announced to hold pre decamping dinner or the  former governor of the state, Gabriel Suswam and others.

Those invited to the  dinner which is holding today, Friday, October 10 2025 includes, one time Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul  Orhii, a PDP  member House of Representative, Ojoma Ojotu, the lawmaker representing Okpokwu State constituency, Anthony Agom, PDP member who recently decamped to APC, and David Iornem.

The  state publicity secretary of APC, James Orgunga described the dinner as a prelude to great things to happen to the state.

Orgunga  said, "Yes, what we are having today in Government House, is a pre-decamping dinner. Some people have indicated interest to join the APC in Benue State to help the governor. 

"Some have told him they are going to realigned with him, not joining his own party but they will work with him and just for understanding. So, today the governor said come as my friends, let's have a dinner and discuss a way forward for Benue State.

" That is what is happening today. And after that meeting, there are going to be series of decamping ceremonies that  will be holding in the State. So, for  today, we are going to hold a pre-decamping dinner for those who will be leaving their parties to join the governor and then friends of the governor are also to attend including the former governor of Benue State, Dr.Gabriel Suswam and the senator representing Benue Northwest senatorial district, Titus Zam. Senator Titus Zam is only leaving SGF, Akume faction to join Alia faction within APC.

Asked if Suswam who is leading ADC in the state has accepted to join APC, Orgunga said, "It's not forbidden if he (Suswam ) decides to join the governor in APC,  but he has identified with the governor  as friend of the government.

Orgunga said that other politicians were also invited to the pre decamping dinner.

But in a swift response, the media aide to Suswam, Bath Bede described it as a 'mere rumour and that the former governor will not decamp.

He said, "Those people may be decamping but certainly not Suswam, it is a mere rumour, you don't expect a former governor to decamp at a dinner. 

"if Suswam is to decamp it will be in an outdoor with wider publicity and consultations with his supporters across the state
