The Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Hon. Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, who also chairs the House Committee on Women and Children, on Wednesday embarked on an oversight visit to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi.

Her first point of call was the VIP section, where she inspected the facilities and assessed how services are being delivered to patients. During the visit, she encountered a woman with a facial injury sustained in an accident. Deeply moved, the Deputy Speaker personally supported her treatment with a donation of ₦50,000.

She further inspected all units and departments of the hospital to gain firsthand knowledge of the structures, equipment, and quality of service delivery.

As part of the tour, the House Committee Chairman also visited the newly established therapeutic center for children with special needs, where she assessed the level of care and support available within the unit.

At the end of the inspection, the Deputy Speaker expressed satisfaction with the remarkable growth and transformation of the hospital community, stating: “The improvements I have seen today are commendable. The commitment of the management and the support of the state government reflect a shared vision for quality healthcare in Benue State."

She commended the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Stephen Hwande, for his efforts in turning the institution into not only a state-of-the-art medical establishment but also a center of attraction.

She equally appreciated the Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormen Alia, for prioritizing healthcare development in the state, acknowledging that the well-being of citizens remains paramount.

The oversight visit underscored the Onyawole K'Idoma's commitment to the overall welfare of the Benue citizenry, especially women and children who are more vulnerable to diseases.
